Overview

D. Fort Flowers, Jr. founded Sentinel Trust in 1997 as the successor to the Fruehauf and Flowers families’ single-family offices. Prior to pursuing a career in finance and portfolio management, Fort was a Design Engineer with Schlumberger. Fort earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Fort is currently serving as Executive Chairman of the Board of Sentinel Trust, an independent wealth management firm and multi-family office responsible for more than $5 billion and 30 client-families. He also chairs its Investment Committee. Fort remains very active in the business and with client relationships where his skills and knowledge are additive.

He has served on the boards of multiple private and public businesses in industries ranging from engineering and manufacturing to banking and mining. Fort has spoken extensively on family businesses, succession planning, and governance.

He is active in the community and served as a Trustee of St. John’s School, the Texas Presbyterian Foundation, and the Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation, Inc. He chaired the board of Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, was the Texas Regional Board Chair for the MIT Corporation Development Committee, a past President of the Petroleum Club of Houston, and a past Trustee and Chair of the Investment Committee of the Georgia Tech Foundation.
